Introduction to Electrical Engineering
The Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is a very fascinating discipline. The electric and electronic technologies are deeply permeated into every aspect of our lives. Can you imagine a world without electricity? Can you imagine our world without so many electronic devices such as smart phones, computers, and game consoles? Have you ever thought about the “magic” behind the communication technologies that connects people all around the world? It would not be an exaggeration to claim that EEE has made a great contribution to the development of modern civilization and is the single most important factor paving the way for the “new” future possibilities. Being aware of such impact that EEE has on our current and future lives, Yonsei University like many other universities has strived to enrich the EEE program and produce the high-end educational outcome.
EEE covers diverse technology fields. The research areas of our department cover electrical/power engineering, semiconductors, nanotechnology, communications, signal processing, computers, and bio-medical engineering. The diverse research areas come from the evolution of EEE. As the social need for a specific area emerges, EEE has always made contributions with specific and practical applications. These diverse technologies are also closely related to one another and closely couple within the boundary of EEE. A good EEE background can be extended to a wide range of scientific and engineering applications. An EEE major can be educated with core engineering technologies commonly required in a wide variety of fields seeking responsive and ingenious solutions in the future.
Our nation nurtures many of the global leaders in the EEE technologies. It is well known that the Korean companies are dominating the global markets and industries for semiconductors and smart devices with a distinguished technology level, and such technological competitiveness is making a great contribution to the economy of Korea. This is the prolonged outcome of passion and effort from generations of many EEE experts whom our EEE School has proudly nourished. The members of our EEE School envision a truly motivated learning environment in which the future global technology leaders are fostered and supported with their studies and researches to meet their fullest potential.

We hope that many young and spirited students with inquiring minds will be captivated to the beauty of electrical and electronic engineering. The EEE School’s Administration Office at Yonsei University in charge of undergraduate and graduate academic and administrative matters will be there to address any of your inquiries and suggestions.

The Admissions Office is in charge of any form of undergraduate admissions at Yonsei University.
