- Distributed Control Architecture, Enhancing the Design Scalability and Flexibility of Modular Multilevel Converter
- Dr. Jongseo Na and researchers from Smart Grid Lab (Prof. Kyeon Hur) have developed a practical architecture for fully exploiting the scalability of modular multilevel converters (MMC), especially for High Voltage DC applications. The validity and performance of the proposed scheme, titled 'Interleaving Clusters of Submodules to Enhance Scalability of Modular Multilevel Converters for High-Voltage Applications,' will be highlighted in the IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery."

- Prof. Kyeon Hur and Dr. Jae-Kyeong Kim’s paper, titled “On the Perturbation Size of the Finite Difference Method for Trajectory Sensitivity-based Assessment of Power System Dynamics with Non-smooth Behavior” has been accepted for publication in International Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems (IF: 5.2, Q1). This paper comprehensively analyzed the appropriate perturbation size to improve the accuracy of trajectory sensitivity-based assessment of power system dynamics and provided practical guidelines.

- Prof. Kyeon Hur and Min-seung Ko’s research has been accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Power Systems
- Prof. Kyeon Hur and Ph. D. Candidate Min-seung Ko’s paper, titled “Locating the Source of Oscillation with Two-Tier Dynamic Mode Decomposition Integrating Early-Stage Energy,” has been accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Power Systems (IF: 7.326 Top 9% in Engineering, Electrical & Electronic category of JCI). This research proposed a two-tier structure with the improved dynamic mode decomposition for the oscillation detection and source location. Mr. Wooyoung Shin at KERI and Mr. Kai Sun, the professor at University of Tennessee, joined this research.

- Taeyoung Kim and Changyoon Yi of Prof. Seung Ah Lee’s research group (OISL) won the Young Investigator’s Award and the Best Poster Award at SPIE Advanced Biophotonics Conference 2023 (ABC 2023) organized by the Optical Society of Korea. Each work was supervised by Prof. Seung Ah Lee (corresponding author) and won the awards in Computational and Optical Microscopy division.

- Prof. Yong-June Shin and Dr. Seon Hyeog Kim published a paper entitled "Optimize the Operating Range for Improving the Cycle Life of Battery Energy Storage Systems Under Uncertainty by Managing the Depth of Discharge" in the Journal of Energy Storage (Impact Factor 9.4, top 15.5% in JCR Division Ranking), a top-tier journal in the field of energy storage. This work was supported by the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (KETEP) and by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) grant funded by the Ministry of Science, ICT& Future Planning.

- Prof. Jungmok Seo’s group grants 2024 CES Innovation Awards (Digital health, Human security)
- Prof. Jungmok Seo’s research team (BLISS) has been selected to receive a grant from the 2024 CES Innovation in two categories(Digital health, Human security) by developing CEV(Clear Endo Vison) using a medical device surface coating technology. Lynk Solutec, a laboratory-based start-up company, received this award in recognition of its abiity to improve cost efficiency and medical standards by developing CEV that provides a clear view for endoscopic surgery at a lower cost.

- Dr. Young Uk Cho's paper (Prof. Yu's team) has been published in Advanced Functional Materials
- The research team of Dr. Young Uk Cho (first author) and Professor Ki Jun Yu (corresponding author) developed a implantable electrode array for measuring and stimulating the brain cortex. This work was used to investigate the pain relief effect in allodynia models using electrophysiology and manganese-enhanced MRI. This study was published in Advanced Functional Materials (IF 19.9, JCR Top 4.2%), the most prestigious journal in multidisciplinary engineering.

- Joungmoon Lee(Prof. Han’s team)’s optical communication paper has been published in Journal of Lightwave Technology
- Prof. Han’s Broadband Transmission Network Lab. mitigated inter-dimensional interference in QAM-PIRFSK-MDPSK optical modulation by optical intensity pre-distortion. By the proposed technique, high-speed multidimensional optical transmission is possible. The results were published in Journal of Lightwave Technology. This study was led by Joungmoon Lee (Ph.D. Candidate) as the first author and Prof. Sang-Kook Han as the corresponding author. Inho Ha and Jinwoo Park participated in this study.
