The field of communication and network aims to solve complex problems by effectively sharing and delivering various types of information. These technologies are actively used in industries of Connected Machines & Collaborative Intelligence. The members of this research area conduct research on technologies that convey information between various objects such as humans, machines and intelligence and enable storage, sharing, and processing of information to achieve human-level intellectual ability through collaboration between objects. The research topics include collaborative intelligence & learning, distributed & virtualized systems, intelligence networks, and cyber security.
Connected Machines & Collaborative Intelligence (CMCI)
Due to the explosive growth in the amount of information to be collected, stored, shared, processed, and learned in the upcoming future society, it is expected that the collection, storage, processing, and learning of information by a single system or single agent will reach its limit. It is expected to become a hyper-connected intelligent society in which different agents such as human beings, machines, and intelligence scattered around the world are connected to each other through networks and cooperate. In the field of communication and network, in order to realize such a hyper-connected intelligent society, research on various wired and wireless network technologies for low-latency, high-efficiency, and high-reliability information exchange between various agents is in progress. Based on these network technologies, the collection, storage, sharing, processing, and learning of cooperative information among multiple agents are studied to implement human-level intelligence. Related undergraduate courses include signals and systems, communication theory, digital communications, computer networks, wireless mobile networks and digital signal processing.

|Intelligent Networks (IntelliNet)||Mobile/wireless networks, future internet, IoT including network infrastructures and 5G/WiFi/vehicluar networks aiming at high-efficiency, low-latency and high-reliability communication between heterogeneous devices or networks.|
|Cyber Security(CySec)||Cryptography, network sescurity including algorithms, encryption, authentication, intrusion detection and access control for security in storage, transmission, processing of Information.|
|Networked Robots||Multiple agents(robots, drones, vehicles) build a network for common missions such as robot soccer, exploration of disaster area or military operation. Integrated cyber and physical systems that carry out localization, motion control and sensing to obtain, exchange, learn information.|
|Connected Vehicles||Network-connected cars or drones secure driver and enable autonomous driving through sharing information of current or unexpected situations. Passengers can be provided with various services through the network. New services can be created through the utilization of various geographic and temporal information acquired through moving vehicles.|
|IoT & Smart X (Factory, Farm, City/Building, Energy)||IoT technologies that connect every single object is the core technology in the upcoming 4th industrial revolution. Based on Big data and AI, industrial breakthroughs such as smart factory (industry 4.0), smart farm, smart city/building, and smart energy systems can be realized.|
