The paper titled "Fully Passive Sensor Coated with Phenylboronic Acid Hydrogel for Continuous Wireless Glucose Monitoring" by Prof. Yongshik Lee's research group has been accepted for publication in IEEE Sensors.

The paper demonstrates an LC resonator-based wireless sensor for glucose sensing. Despite being a fully passive sensor with an extremely simple structure, real-time wireless monitoring of, for example blood glucose levels, is possible with the integrated inductor. Also, the sensor is capable of inducing not a frequency shift in sensor response but also changes in reflection coefficient according to glucose concentration. This dual-marker feature drastically enhances accuracy compared to previous single-marker counterparts. Finally, by utilizing phenylboronic acid (PBA) hydrogel, the selectivity for glucose among various sugars in the blood is maximized up to 100:1, making it much more practical than previous sensors for glucose monitoring.

This research was conducted by Dr. Rehab Hassan, a BK21 research professor, and supervised by Prof. Yongshik Lee.
