The paper, titled “Dielectric Patterning Method for Enhanced RCS Reduction Effect Based on DBD Plasma”, demonstrates a technology that integrates a patterned dielectric layer with a DBD plasma generator, significantly increasing the effective electron density of the plasma and, consequently, dramatically enhancing the RCS (radar cross-section) reduction effect.

The experimental results revealed that an RCS reduction effect of up to 34.7 dB was attained, surpassing the previous achievement by 10.7 dB. This marks the initial demonstration that plasma-based electromagnetic concealment technology is capable of providing the performance of well-established RCS reduction technologies, such as metasurfaces. This suggests a potential role for plasma-based technology in future electromagnetic concealment technologies.

The primary contributors of the work are Mr. Jinwoo Jung (first author) and Prof. Yongshik Lee (corresponding author). This work was supported by ADD (Agency for Defense Development).
