Prof. Kim served as a member of a task force of industrial technology protection since 2009 and thereby contributed to the prevention of technology leakage of Korean semiconductor and display technologies. In recognition of his efforts to protect national core technologies, he was awarded a commendation from the minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy under the supervision of the Korean Association for Industrial Technology Security.
