-세미나 제목 : Modeling and Control of Microbial Energy Harvesting Systems

-발표 초록 :

As well as the large-scale renewable energy systems using wind and solar power, small-scale energy harvesting from various ambient energy sources have also gained attention. The new attraction is the energy optimization scaled down to off-grid and even to a much smaller level. Energy harvesting from ambient sources has recently been focused to supply power to new applications, such as battery replacements, cell phone chargers, wearable devices, internet-of-things (IOT) devices, and remote sensors. Since 2010, Dr. Park has been investigating the energy management system (EMS) for low-power renewable energy from microbial fuel cell (MFC), which offers a simple, direct method for converting environmentally available biomass into electricity and are very suitable as a clean, distributed, and renewable energy source. He focuses on the integration of power electronics converters to low-power renewable resources for efficient energy harvesting, which is an emerging research topic in the area. His approach from an electrical engineering perspective for the improved understanding and performance of this multi-disciplinary electro-biochemical application is unique and it is well accepted in the field. His MFC modeling and energy management research is currently sponsored by federal agencies and the research outcomes have been published in top-tier journal articles and conference papers. In this talk, his recent progress in modeling and control of bioenergy harvesting systems will be presented.
