Li-Ion batteries are one of the most popular rechargeable batteries for many applications, such as portable devices, EV(Electrical Vehicles), and ESS(Energy Storage Systems). Due to characteristics of Li-Ion batteries, battery management system (BMS) is a critical part of those systems for safety, performance, and cost reduction. In this presentation, main functions and architectures of BMS will be discussed and as an example of BMS, Chevy Volt will be reviewed.
