Professor Yong-June Shin’s research group (Energy Information Processing Laboratory) developed an EM (Expectation–Maximization) framework-based probabilistic signal separation technique that overcomes the limitations of conventional reflectometry-based diagnostics caused by overlapping multiple reflections in branched cable networks, thereby enhancing anomaly detection accuracy and expanding the applicability of reflectometry in industrial electronics.

The results were published in February 2026 in IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (Impact Factor: 5.9; JCR: 8.2%). The study was supervised by Professor Yong-June Shin (corresponding author) and led by Dr. Hobin Lim as the first author.
