Yonsei University hosted GlobalEM 2026, one of the world's leading international conferences on high-power electromagnetics, from June 29 to July 3 at Baekyangnuri on the Sinchon Campus.

Originally established in 1978 as the Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse Meeting, GlobalEM has evolved into a prestigious international conference with nearly five decades of history. The conference covers a broad range of topics related to high-power electromagnetics, including high-power electromagnetic theory and devices, electromagnetic security, and high-power electromagnetic system technologies.

This year's conference brought together approximately 350 researchers, industry professionals, and defense experts from 21 countries, with around 140 high-quality technical papers presented. The event opened with welcoming remarks by Yonsei University President Yoon Dong-seop, followed by a congratulatory address from the Vice Chairman of the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff. The conference featured a diverse technical program consisting of keynote speeches, special panel discussions, oral presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and tutorials.

In particular, participants discussed opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry through sessions on topics such as "High Power Microwave Sources" and "Sensing-based Physical Artificial Intelligence."

The conference was chaired by Professor Jong-Gwan Yook of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University, with Professors Yong-Sik Lee and In-Sang Yoo serving as members of the organizing committee. The event was also supported by major domestic and international companies as conference sponsors.

By hosting GlobalEM 2026, Yonsei University further demonstrated Korea's research excellence in electromagnetic systems while strengthening its global academic network and international leadership in the field of electromagnetics.
