Memory semiconductor have been driving the development of Korea’s semiconductor technologies for decades. There is well-known opinion that Korea’s system semiconductor business is relatively weaker than memory semiconductor business. System semiconductor technologies are essential for crucial functions in electronic systems and require highly qualified and skilled circuit designers to work on them. There will always be a need for analog and digital engineers. A system semiconductor industry requires investment in people and technologies and a competitive ecosystem. Korea president unveiled plan to foster an industrial ecosystem to cultivate the system semiconductor sector. The government will invest heavily in people and technologies.
