3, 제목:  Surface Plasmon Resonance for Biosensing and Optofluidics, Centrifugal Microfluidics for Biodetection

4, 내용:  
This seminar aims to address two areas of research that the speaker has been working on during his many years of academic career. 
The first topic is concerned with Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), which is highly intriguing phenomenon that occurs when electromagnetic radiation, photons in particular, interact with nano-sized metallic structures. 
While this topic has been intensely researched in the past two decades in light of the possibility to explore exciting physics and potential applications, this seminar focuses mainly on the optical instrumentation of SPR biosensors. 
Since SPR also generates highly localized heat, we have found the possibility of using the local temperature gradient for various applications including optofluidic control, trapping and DNA detection.
We In the second part of this seminar, the topic of centrifugal microfluidics is discussed. Various single-use, disposable lab-on-on-disc devices will be presented. 
Applications including detection of infectious diseases, allergy testing, antibiotic susceptibility assessment and droplet-based reactors have been demonstrated.
