산업계 전문가와 공대 교수 등 국내 최고 공학기술 전문가들이 회원으로 활동하는 한국공학한림원은 100대 기술을 발굴하기 위해 2017년 2월부터 10개월간 120여 명의 산·학·연 전문가가 참여한 가운데 선정 작업을 진행 하였고, 미래기술을 개발한 주역 238명을 선정했다. 김현재 교수는 디스플레이 백플레인 제작의 핵심 기술인 산화물반도체 연구에 기여하였으며, 그 공로로 100대 기술 및 주역으로 선정되었다.

The National Academy of Engineering of Korea, which has Korea’s top engineering technology experts including industry experts and professors of engineering as members, had selected 238 individuals who has contributed to the development of the future technologies for 10 months from February 2017 with the participation of 120 industry, academia, and research experts during the selection process in order to discover 100 technologies. Professor Hyun Jae Kim has contributed to the research of oxide semiconductors, a key technology in the production of display backplanes, and thus was chosen for one of the top 100 technologies and leaders.
