The School of Electrical and Electronic
Engineering in Yonsei University (and the Department
of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the Graduate
School of Yonsei University) is among the largest in
the country and offers one of the most compre hensive
teaching and research programs available. The Department
originates from three departments: Electrical, Electronics
and Radio Communications Engineering.
The
school involves 49 faculty members, more than 1100 well-motivated
undergraduate students, and 57 undergr aduate-level
courses in five areas, namely, Microwave and Optics,
Semiconductor and Electronic Devices, Control and Systems,
Information Communications and Signal Processing, and
VLSI and Circuit Designs. It has 47 laboratories with
more than 170 graduate-level courses classified in nine
different areas, and 600 graduate students. Also, the
Department includes 16 research institutes:
Engineering Research Institute, Biometric Engineering Research
Center(BERC), National Research Laboratory(Informaiton Display
Device Lab. Microwave Photonics Lab.), Advanced system IC
Center(ASIC), Center for Signal Processing Research (CSPR),
e-Health Research Center, Center for Information Technology
of Yonsei University (CITY), IT SoC(System-On-a-chip) Research
Center, Center For Advanced Broadcasting Technology, Center
For Advanced RFID/USN Technology, Automation Technology Research
Institute(ATRI), Medical Engineering & Information Research
Center, Information and Telecommunications Research Center,
Radio Communication Research Center (RCRC) and Technological
Development of Next Generation Hybrid Intelligent Service
Platform.
The faculty members
are well respected and many have achieved worldwide prominence
in their specialty.
The
school is annually one of the leading producers of electrical/electronics
engineering and computer engineering graduates in the
country. The undergraduate Department (the graduate
Department) offers courses and programs across the breadth
and spectrum of electrical and electronics engineering
leading to a Bachelor's Degree (also Master's and the
Doctoral degrees).
